Keeping The Main Thing- The Main Thing At Christmas!

Hi Ladies-

Today we are discussing what it means to keep the Main thing the Main thing during the hustle and bustle this Christmas season. So what is the main thing? The main thing for Christmas is Christ Himself. So often I think the Christmas season gets so wrapped up in other materialistic things that we completely forget the whole reason we are celebrating Christmas in the first place. I know my family has been guilty of this in the past.

This year we have chosen to simplify things. Because lets face it life isn’t always about things. It’s about memories and being intentional in living for the eternal and not the present. One of the reasons I am writing this is to encourage you to have a heart focused on the eternal value of Christmas this year. One of the ways we have chosen to do this in our home, is through an advent book. We purchased Oh Come Let Us Adore Him, by, Paul David Tripp to go over nightly with our girls. On the list Below I offer a few other advent book recommendations. You still have time to order one in time for the 1st of December. I encourage you to look at each one and see which one best fits you and your family. Hey, maybe unlike me you’ve already done one, and have a recommendation of your favorite and want to share it!! Message down below so we can look at it too!

If  you have stumbled across my blog and have never truly known the TRUE meaning of Christmas… Well… this would be a wonderful way for you to learn what Christmas is about and why we celebrate it.

Advent: the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event.

So ladies this is one way to keep the Spirit of Christmas flowing through the hearts of you and your family this holiday season. This will be our first time going through an advent devotional and we are soooooo looking forward to it!!!! Join us in experiencing the beauty of Gods peace this Christmas season.

The Dawning of Indestrucable Joy By John Piper

In The Manger, By, Max Lucado

Come Let Us Adore Him, By, Paul David Tripp

God is In The Manger, By, Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Although, I haven’t personally read each of these books I do know they are well trusted authors so I know you can not go wrong with any of them. If you chose one let me know which one you decided to go with. And just know that you do not have to have a family to do this, no matter where life finds you today single, married with no kids, married with kids, whatever it may be you can NEVER go wrong filling up on some Jesus this Holiday season!! 🙂

For the next couple weeks I will be posting other ways for you to keep the Spirit of Christ alive in your homes this Christmas season. Remember simple is key. Simplicity is life changing. We will talk more about this later.

And coming in, he said to her, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.” But she was very perplexed at this statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this was. 30 The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus

Luke 1:28-30

For now let this scripture be fresh on your mind in the next coming week as we approach Dec 1st. I am praying over each one of you today, asking that His word will stir your hearts as we begin to keep Him (the main thing) in our homes this season!! Merry Christmas!!
